Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the prestigious cup on fourteen different times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.

Yet, Marseille struck two times late to take a surprise lead. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital equaliser in the dying moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to complete a convincing penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the last thirteen seasons.
